Winter sports in Australia

This article is a travel topic.

Despite what you may think, Australia DOES have a Winter Sports industry. The season is not very long compared to more 'favorable' climes, but Australians take full advantage of what they've got, extending the natural ski season with snow machines etc.

The major skifields are found in Victoria and New South Wales and Tasmania. There is not a lot of snow in New South Wales or Victoria, but Tasmania is much further south and has extensive snows during the winter, which make for excellent winter hiking and cross-country skiing.
