Bay View-Hunter's Point is a district of San Francisco. When the Navy closed the Shipyard, the site of the first dry-dock on the West Coast, it also cut the jobs that came with it and the reason that so many people moved to the area from the South. As jobs left, crime rose, and now this is one of the worst neighborhoods of the city. Although it is turning around slowly and people who live there say it's not as bad as it was 10 years ago. New apartments are being built and MUNI (public transport) service being extended.

There are some BBQ and Ribs places that occasionally get a good review in the Guardian or SFWeekly. DrinkThere are several bars in the area, but you don't really want to go there. SleepYou better find a safe place to sleep. Either in a private residence or in another neighborhood altogether. Note that there is a homeless shelter at a church on 3rd and McKinnon. Contact
