Launceston is the second-largest city in Tasmania. The city was first settled in 1805 and currently has a population of around 70,000.

By plane

Launceston airport is a 30 minute drive from the city, and you can visit the historic town of Evandale on the way. Once you are in the air, it is approximately 45 minutes to Melbourne on the mainland.

By car

The Midlands Highway provides a fast and smooth trip (approximately 2 hours) down the center of the state to Hobart, the state capital.
