Hervey Bay [1] is a large town located on the southern coast of the Australian state of Queensland. The town (population approximately 50,000 and growing fast) is a noted centre for whale watching, amongst other activities, as well as serving as the gateway to Fraser Island and the southern Great Barrier Reef.
